Prerequisites

You must have the following skills:

System administrator level understanding of UNIX/Linux including knowledge of network management
Practical understanding of UNIX/Linux at system administration level with the ability to:
Manage networks, including SNMP and TCP/IP, routing, switching and network management systems.
Determine the cause of a software problem, and work around or fix the problem
Work with basic scripting techniques

Prerequisite courses:

IBM Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus Administration and Configuration (TN022), or equivalent experience.
IBM Tivoli Network Manager IP Edition Fundamentals (TN321), or equivalent experience.

Learn how to customize discovery and build custom stitchers to enhance the topology database or to instantiate devices and connections manually. Develop network fault isolation (Root Cause Analysis) skills, and learn techniques for designating devices as managed or unmanaged during discovery time. Additional topics address advanced customization of the Network Manager monitor/poller
