About Herefordshire Council

Herefordshire County Council and NHS Joint ICT Services identified a need for additional Cisco specific training to assist them in transferring the support of the Council's network from their previous managed service supplier to an in-house team.

The Brief

The brief was to develop and deliver training to network engineering support staff.

Innovise ESM Training was chosen to develop and deliver training for network engineering support staff onsite. As the course progressed it was agreed that additional bespoke training was required to prepare the engineers and add to their existing knowledge within the tight timescales dictated by the end of the service contract.

The Approach

The first phase of the project required a Training Needs Analysis (TNA) to identify the network infrastructure, the technologies to be covered and an in depth analysis of the level of training required for the delegates.

Listening to Herefordshire council's needs and understanding their time frame was crucial to the success of the project, at Innovise ESM Training we aim to deliver every project to exact customer requirements.

The Solution

The need for a customised modular course was identified, Innovise ESM Training worked with Herefordshire council to schedule, develop and agree a bespoke course. The material and associated labs were soon developed to reflect the specific topics identified in the TNA maximising the value of the training received. The course delivered a comprehensive 2 day programme covering advanced routing, switching, quality of service and network troubleshooting. In addition to the training, "hands on" lab exercises were developed to reinforce the topics covered.

Innovise ESM Training delivered an excellent course which received unanimously positive feedback from the engineers attending. What differentiated Innovise ESM Training was their preparation in analysing the council's network before delivering the training; the skill and knowledge of the engineer giving the training; and their ability to respond in very tight timescales.
